The clients of this 1967 New England Colonial style home wanted to design a new primary bedroom suite. GSD produced two schemes which took different approaches to the design.

The first scheme sought out to change the overall massing of the home, bettering the proportions. This version included the primary bedroom suite above the existing garage, taking advantage of the existing egress. The exterior was reimagined to look like a barn addition with board and batten siding and a cupola.

The second scheme allowed for the client to have peace of mind for their future with a primary suite located on the first floor. Working with the property setbacks GDS designed an addition which balances the one story addition on the opposing side of the existing home. With access to the existing courtyard, this scheme included an indoor/outdoor living space and a connection from the shared and private living spaces.
